Elia Rigotto won the 83rd edition of the Belgian one-day race Schaal J.C. Sels Merksem (UCI 1.1).  After 197 kilometers with start and finish in Antwerp, the Italian along with Kristjan Fajt attacked out of a 20-rider strong breakaway group and won the sprint against his Slovenian rival.  It is the first season win for the 26 year-old MILRAM rider but the third in ten days for MILRAM, following Björn Schröder's overall win in the Rothaus Regio Tour and Brett Lancaster's opening win tin he Deutschland Tour.

„That was a very strong performance from Elia today“, said Antonio Bevilaqua, MILRAM's Directeur Sportif.  „The race was marked by extreme wind.  The main field had to be pulled from the race at some point, since the escape group had a 20 minute lead and could no longer be caught.  Elia took his chance in the finale and after his attack won quite easily.“

On Wednesday, September 3, the same MILRAM line-up will start in the Memorial Rik van Steenbergen.  The one-day race, which also starts and finishes in Antwerp, runs 140 kilometers over rolling terrain before tackling six laps of a 10-kilometer circuit.  This circuit is totally flat and usually brings about a bunch sprint.
